Pa Thien Peak (approx. 1,626m) and Voi Mep Peak (approx. 1,707m–1,800m) are known as the "roof" of Quang Tri Province. This pair of adjacent peaks is located in Huong Phung Commune, within the Bac Huong Hoa Nature Reserve. It currently ranks among the most pristine and challenging trekking routes in Central Vietnam, offering magnificent, cloud-filled vistas.
The journey connecting the two peaks is a formidable challenge. Trekkers must descend into a deep valley—dropping about 300 meters in elevation—before making a steep climb back up. The final stretch to Voi Mep involves navigating a dense "sea" of dwarf bamboo that towers over trekkers' heads. The trek spans a distance of 9 to 18 kilometers. Reaching the summit area and campsite requires 5 to 6 hours of continuous hiking through the forest.
Ideal time to visit: The dry season, from October to the following April, is best (offering cool weather and minimal rainfall). The period from December to February is particularly perfect for witnessing the "sea of clouds." Avoid the rainy season (May–September), as trails become slippery, rocky slopes turn dangerous, and stream levels rise significantly.
